1) Who We Are

The Mobile Health & Sensor Lab conducts cutting-edge research at the intersection of AI, mobile healthcare, and sensor technology.
We develop AI-powered mobile health solutions that enable real-time, on-site diagnostics using smartphones and portable devices.
Our lab fosters a multidisciplinary research environment, collaborating with experts in Electrical Engineering (EE), Bioengineering (BE), Materials Science (MSE), and Mechanical Engineering (ME).
We also maintain close partnerships with hospitals and industry to drive forward the convergence of AI and biomedical technologies.

2) Research Areas

Machine learning and deep learning for biomedical data analysis
Development and optimization of point-of-care testing (POCT) technologies
Sample filtration and enrichment techniques for biological specimens
Multi-omics data analysis and integrated diagnostic model development
Signal processing and optimization for mobile and portable device sensors

3) Your Role as a Researcher

Design and implementation of deep learning-based biosensor and diagnostic algorithms
Data analysis, experiment design, and manuscript writing
Leading AI-focused projects and building up the lab's AI capabilities
Participating in interdisciplinary and collaborative research with hospitals and industry partners
Conducting translational research toward technology transfer and productization

4) Required Qualifications

Ph.D. (or expected completion) in Computer Science, Bioengineering, or related fields
Solid understanding of machine learning and deep learning fundamentals
Strong programming skills (Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow)
Research experience in analyzing biomedical data (e.g., multi-omics, biosignals, sensor images) or deep learning for data processing

5) Preferred Qualifications

Publications in high-impact journals or top-tier AI conferences (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICLR)
Experience in AI-based imaging/signal processing (especially in bio/diagnostics)
Experience in collaborative research with companies, hospitals, or public institutions
Track record of translating research into products or technology transfer
Applicants without all the above but with strong motivation to publish AI-based biomedical research in high-impact journals are also welcome.

6) Ideal Candidates

We are looking for researchers who:
Are capable of independent and self-directed research, and actively seek novel approaches to problem-solving
Value collaboration and communication, and can work well in multi-stakeholder research environments
Aim to create both academic and real-world impact through research, and are interested in the practical implementation of their work

7) Employment & Application Details

Location: Korea University, Seoul Campus, R&D Center – Mobile Health Lab (KU-KIST)
Salary: Competitive and negotiable based on experience and performance
